One of the locations in Sierra's Space Quest
3 is a place called the Monolith Burger. A
screen featuring the exterior of the Monolith Burger
appears very much like the exterior shot of the Mylo
Burger.
Scott Miller (a game designer for Crystal Caves) lists
Space Quest 3 as one of his favourite games on his
3DRealms bio page, so it's possible that he was
responsible for adding this refrence.

Joe versus the Volacano
In 1990 (the year before Crystal Caves
was released), a movie by Amblin Entertainment / Warner
Brothers, called Joe
versus the Volcano came out. There isn't a
lot similar in terms of storyline, however the titles
"Mylo versus the Supernova" and "Joe
versus the Volcano" do sound quite a lot alike.
